For those who can’t get enough of panoramic views, the Umeda Sky Building near Osaka Station is another great place to enjoy the world from up high. This major Osaka landmark houses the Floating Garden Observatory on the 39th to 41st floors, a unique doughnut-shaped platform offering 360-degree cityscape views from morning to night.

At 170 meters high, views from the Sky Walk on the 41st floor are pretty stunning. On a particularly clear day, you might even be able to see as far as Awaji Island. Unlike most observatories, though, it is open-air. It can be windy up there, so stow your hats and umbrellas safely in a bag in case they’re blown away - you only need to be blown away by the view.

If you want to linger, the Sky 40 cafe, the Sky Lounge Stardust, and Chinese restaurant Sangu are great places to have a drink and continue enjoying the cityscape. Alternatively, you could head down to the basement and visit Takimi-Koji gourmet street for a hearty meal at any of the restaurants there. The building is also home to Cine Libre, where you can get your art house cinema fix, if you’re so inclined.
The Umeda Sky Building is a short 10-15 minute walk from Osaka Station, meaning that you can even squeeze in a quick view of the city before traveling onwards to another city.
