Takoyaki Doraku Wanaka

Takoyaki Doraku Wanaka’s takoyaki is another favourite with Osakans. They have several branches across the city from Namba to Nippombashi, but we like the Sennichimae stall - the takoyaki is fabulous, and you can have it for breakfast on the weekends, in true Osaka binge-eating fashion.

If you’re looking for hot, gooey, delicious takoyaki that’s also conveniently located for sightseeing and shopping, look no further than the Sennichimae branch of Wanaka. It’s a hop and a skip away from Doguyasuji (Kitchen Street), and is immensely popular with locals and tourists alike. We liked Takoyaki Doraku Wanaka's takoyaki so much that we even included it on our 1-day Osaka eating itinerary.

The classic order here is the ubiquitous sweet, tangy brown sauce you see everywhere here. But they have other options for toppings, such as salt, dashi stock, soy sauce, and bonito flakes. Those who have trouble deciding will not need to be forced to choose: instead, order the o-iri (お入り) sampler which has four different toppings. That way, you can try all of them!

One of the best things about Takoyaki Doraku Wanaka, besides their great takoyaki, is that they open at 8:30am on weekends. Takoyaki for breakfast? Sign us up! Not only is it a fabulous hangover cure, it makes a great late-night snack if you’re feeling peckish after dinner.
