Motomi Osaka Nishi-Umeda Branch is a gorgeous, slightly upmarket yakitori restaurant in the Kita-Shinchi near Umeda. Their chicken skewers are delicious, the surroundings are ultra-stylish, and there’s a wide selection of sake, shochu, spirits, and even a few wines. What’s not to love?

Tucked away down a street somewhere in the slightly upscale Kita-Shinchi district, Motomi Osaka Nishi-Umeda Branch is a yakitori joint serving up intensely flavourful chicken skewers in stylish surroundings. Sake with your yakitori is par for the course, but you can even have a glass of wine here!

Using freshly slaughtered chicken (the same morning, in fact) delivered straight from Kagoshima to the restaurant, Motomi Osaka Nishi-Umeda Branch’s skewers are, simply put, bloody delicious. You’ll want to order some of the special charcoal-grilled aburi chicken for 1~2 people, but pretty much all the other parts you like here, you can order by the skewer and enjoy.
Don’t miss the gorgeous chicken liver pate, smoked quail eggs, or confit gizzards - all great snacks to help the beer and sake go down. If you need your vegetables or non-meat options, the Japanese-style omelettes, cold tomatoes, and soy-butter grilled eringi mushrooms are all good options in between all that meat. To finish, you’ll want the oyakodon - a tasty bowl of chicken and egg over rice - and some Jersey milk ice cream.

If you are adventurous and extremely keen on trying the chicken sashimi, know that you will have to make a reservation up to at least a day in advance for this. Freshness is paramount and they won’t keep extra portions hanging around!
While it doesn’t always happen, Motomi Osaka Nishi-Umeda Branch will close early if they run out of ingredients. You might want to go for an earlier dinner than not if you’re at all concerned about missing out on a meal there!
