For tasty and meaty ramen within walking distance of Osaka Castle Park, try this popular local eatery. It’s casual and easy to enter. The name is written in English on the brown noren curtains below the signboard.

When you’re in the Osaka Castle Park area and just need a fast, casual, but delicious bowl of noodles, Menya Ageha is a good restaurant to have on your radar. This tiny 13-seater ramen joint serves a variety of bowls: tsukemen (dipping noodles), spicy miso ramen, and shoyu ramen, to name a few.

The tsukemen at Ageha is a good dish to order if you’ve never had this style of ramen before. What you get here: moderately thick, chewy noodles, thick slices of grilled chashu, a gooey-yolked ramen egg, bamboo slices. The dipping broth is rich and umami-packed with fish stock, but barely fishy - just unctuous and coating the noodles beautifully.

In general, their ramen bowls are on the richer, thicker end of the spectrum, so this isn’t the place to come to for a light meal. But if you want a hearty slurp - especially if you’ve spent the morning exploring the park on foot - Menya Ageha is a good place to refuel for another few hours of walking around Osaka.
