Hotel The Flag Shinsaibashi is a smart and stylish budget/mid-range hotel literally in the heart of Osaka. We have no idea how they manage to offer this quality at these rates, but they do. It’s highly recommended.

Hotel The Flag Shinsaibashi exterior.
First, let’s start with the location: at the north end of Shinsaibashi, just steps from the all-important Midusuji Street and Midosuji subway line. You can easily walk to all of Minami from here and the subway will get you to Kita in minutes. There are thousands of stores and restaurants in walking distanced of this hotel, including the Crysta Nagahori underground shopping arcade and the Shinsaibashi Suji shopping arcade. So, location-wise, this is as good at it gets.

Laundry facilities at The Flag Shinsaibashi.
The hotel itself is great. Rooms are not large, but they’re big enough and they have everything you need for a comfortable stay. There are small triples with one large bed for families traveling with one young child. Common areas are stylish and pleasant with an understated Japanese feel. There are laundry facilities and a great breakfast buffet, and the staff is extremely competent and helpful.

All in all, if your accommodation budget is in the US$150/night range, I strongly recommend this great new hotel in the heart of Osaka!
