Hotel Cargo Shinsaibashi is a modern take on the classic Japanese capsule hotel. With a dynamite location in Shinsaibashi, within walking distance of Dotombori, and rates below US$50 per night, this is a great choice for budget travelers.

Hotel Cargo premium capsules
A night in a capsule hotel is a classic “only in Japan” experience, but there are two problems with traditional capsule hotels: most only accept male guests and the capsules are generally quite small and drab. Hotel Cargo has neither of these problems: It welcomes female guests and the capsules are quite spacious, bright and very comfortable. And, it’s not just the capsules that are nice, the whole place has a modern, upbeat vibe and it’s a nice place to hang out and meet people.
Hotel Cargo lobby lounge
We love the location of Hotel Cargo: It’s in Shinsaibashi, which is a great part of the Minami district, but it’s outside the really seething (and sometimes seedy) nightlife districts around Dotombori. You can walk to almost anything worth seeing in Minami and it’s also a short walk to the all-important Midosuji Subway Line, which is the most important transport artery in Osaka.
