Cafe Absinthe is a restaurant, café, and bar rolled into one - it’s a great place to start an evening or spend an entire evening. There’s great Mediterranean food, delicious drinks and you can even smoke a shisha (hookah). Highly recommended.

You might be in Osaka for a holiday, but that doesn’t mean you have to spend every single moment of your time there in a Japanese place. For a change of pace, try Cafe Absinthe - it’s a Mediterranean restaurant, café, and absinthe bar rolled into one. Located over in Kita Horie, a bit of a walk from Shinsaibashi Station, it’s a great place to rub shoulders with the local Japanese and international community,

Besides the tasty Italian and Mediterranean pizzas, pastas, and falafel, it is a great place to sample a wide range of absinthe from its well-stocked cellar. Another reason to go is to smoke some shisha. They have a wide range of flavours, and the twist here is that they can substitute the water in the shisha with absinthe or juice. That’s sure to be one memorable and exclusive shisha experience!

It’s a lively place, especially on the weekends. There’s a steady rotation of local DJs spinning tunes at the cafe and the downstairs event lounge, as well as live bands playing music. Go and be surprised: you might hear jazz one day and funk music the next, but whatever it is, you’ll have a fun, bohemian night out at Cafe Absinthe.
